BarNone K9 incorporates five training components that will make training fun and effective:

2. Clear marker system
3. Consistency
4. Timing
5. Motivation 

I believe that effective dog training requires developing a strong bond between dog and owner. The strong bond requires building a solid foundation so that you and your dog can exist in the real world. So how do we get there?

First, it is important to understand that every dog has a unique personality. A one size fits all approach will not work and it will only set you up for failure. My responsibility, with the help from the dog’s owner, is to figure out what motivates (food, toys, praise) your dog to learn.

Once we determine the motivation, we use that to begin creating our bond. We can do this using several methods but one of the most common is to make ourselves the only people who provide the dog with their wants or needs.

Next, I start teaching a simple marker system. This is without a doubt, where most dog owners struggle! A clear line of communication will help us communicate appropriate and inappropriate behaviors, as well as critique your dog’s behavior, in a fair manner.

Then, we are ready to start teaching your dog specific behaviors using a reward/relationship based balanced approach. I will ensure that your dog fully understands a desired behavior by performing as many of repetitions as needed, using proper motivation and consistency.

There are several methods available to teaching your dog specific behaviors. However, an important and often overlooked component is timing. Your dog has 1.3 second to associate cause and effect, so it’s crucial to get timing right while your dog is in the learning phase.

Once I am are confident that the dog fully understands a behavior, we will add modern training technology and clear communication tools. Through these communications methods, I can teach which behaviors are appropriate and inappropriate.

Finally, I educate you, the owner. I provide education in a simple and easy to understand way, which will ultimately help you live the best life possible with your dog for years to come.

I am up front and honest about the training approach that I use to ensure that my clients are 100% on board. I only work with clients who are comfortable with everything that I do or at least have an open mindset to training. I need each client to be confident that I will do everything in my power to help them reach their goals.
